Fees

Collingwood Medical is a private billing practice. If you hold a valid Medicare card a portion of your consultation will be reimbursed by Medicare. Discounted rates may be applicable if you are experiencing financial hardship. Please discuss your circumstances with your doctor if affordability is an issue.

All payments by card incur a 1.2% surcharge.

All fees must be paid for at the conclusion of your appointment on the day, failure to do so will incur a $15 monthly late payment fee until paid.

Afterhours fees apply to any appointment after 6pm Monday to Friday and all-day Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.

Appointment Definitions

Doctor consultation fees are based on time and the type of service provided. Any medical consumables such as, and not limited to, non-government funded vaccines and dressing changes are charged in addition to the consultation. The fees listed on this page are a guide only.

• Short appointment (MBS attendance item 3 and telehealth equivalent)
  A short appointment is up to 5 minutes for 1 singular straightforward item. For example, a repeat prescription for a regular medication or a repeat referral for a known preexisting condition.

• Standard appointment (MBS attendance item 23 and telehealth equivalent)
  A standard appointment is less than 15 minutes for 1-2 small items only For example, presenting with an injured foot and a repeat prescription request for a regular medication.

• Long appointment (MBS attendance item 36 and telehealth equivalent)
  A long appointment lasting at least 20 minutes but less than 30 minutes is appropriate for 1 singular complex item, or 2-3 small items. For example, presenting with a complex issue such as persistent dizziness, or a regular health checkup involving 2-3 aspects such as blood pressure, pathology screening, and prescriptions requests.

• Prolonged appointment (MBS attendance item 44)
  A prolonged appointments lasting at least 40 minutes but less than 45 minutes for up to 2 complex items, or 4-5 small items. This appointment type is available on request only. For example, reviewing progress and treatment plans for up to 2 complex conditions along with prescription requests.
• Extended appointment (MBS attendance item 123)
  A extended appointment lasts at least 60 minutes for extensive care needs. This appointment type is available on request only or as directed by your doctor.

Any plan related appointments, such as a Mental Health Treatment Plan, require at least 30 minutes.

Telehealth Appointments

Telehealth appointments are available for existing patients of the practice who have seen by one of our doctors face-to-face in the previous 12 months only, if you have not seen a doctor face-to-face in the past 12 months you will not be eligible for any applicable Medicare rebates. All telehealth appointments are billed the same as a face-to-face appointment.

Appointments by phone are capped at 15 minutes.

Appointments video are available with some of our doctors.

Repeat Prescriptions

Limited appointments are available each day for repeats scripts with your regular doctor, these appointments are available by phone only. Repeat prescription appointments are for a regular medication already prescribed by your regular doctor.  You must have attended the practice and seen by one of our doctors  in the past 12 months to be eligible. Please note, that out-of-pocket fees may apply.

Procedures

All procedures require an initial workup appointment specific to the procedure. For new patients to the practice, this is a 30 minutes ‘new patient’ appointment. For existing patients of the practice, a standard appointment is appropriate with your regular doctor.

Late cancellation & Non-attendance

We require a minimum of 2 hours’ notice to cancel your appointment. If you cancel your appointment within 2 hours of your appointment, or do not attend, you will be charged a $45 fee.
